As part of the digital transformation of the water sector, Hidroconta has established itself as a key player in the digitalization of water control across various regions of Spain. The company actively participates in several important PERTE (Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation) initiatives covering areas such as Cartagena, Ourense, and Galicia. These projects aim to improve water efficiency and management through innovative technologies that enable more accurate, real-time consumption monitoring.
Through these projects, Hidroconta will distribute over 100,000 smart devices equipped with advanced technology, such as the Centaurus meter, which transmits consumption data directly to our web-based remote reading software, Deméter. This system enables more efficient and transparent water management and provides advanced reading data without manual interventions.
In addition to the Centaurus meters, other devices have also been implemented which, through our IRIS device, send the data collected by the meter to Deméter. These not only enable real-time data transmission but also allow actions to be taken on the water flow. Thanks to this web-based software, informed decisions about water distribution and consumption can be made, optimizing resources and improving sustainability.
Narrowband IoT Technology: Efficient, long-range connectivity
The smart meters and devices developed by Hidroconta operate using Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) technology, a wireless communication solution designed to be energy-efficient, low-cost, and long-range. NB-IoT allows real-time data transmission even in hard-to-reach areas such as underground locations or places with limited coverage. This has been key to the development of these projects given their geographic characteristics. The technology not only reduces operational costs but also extends device lifespan, which in turn lowers maintenance costs.
NB-IoT connectivity is ideal for remote reading applications, where continuous data transmission from meters to the web platform is required, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information at all times.
Hidroconta innovates towards smarter water management
These PERTE projects are just the beginning of a series of initiatives in which Hidroconta is contributing to the digital transformation of the water cycle. Development and innovation are key factors in providing solutions that help optimize such a vital resource as water, improving distribution efficiency and enabling more sustainable management.
