Hidroconta Joins a Smart Metering Project in 81 Localities of Ourense to Implement Over 42,000 Devices.
Hidroconta is participating in an ambitious digitalization project for potable water management in the province of Ourense, Galicia. As part of this initiative, more than 43,000 smart metering devices will be deployed across 81 localities. The main objective is to optimize water consumption, improve the efficiency of the hydraulic network, and promote a more sustainable use of this resource. To achieve this, Centaurus volumetric and Nautilus ultrasonic smart meters with integrated Iris technology have been installed, enabling real-time data transmission to a centralized data collection system.
Why Nautilus and Centaurus Meters?
Given the scale and specific requirements of the project, it was necessary to use state- of-the-art volumetric and ultrasonic meters.
Nautilus Ultrasonic Meter with Integrated Iris
The Nautilus meter incorporates cutting-edge ultrasonic technology, ensuring highly accurate measurement of water flow and velocity. The Iris devices, which accompany the Nautilus meter, automatically transmit consumption data to a management software system, allowing real-time monitoring and facilitating hydraulic network control for optimized operation.
Key Features of the Nautilus Ultrasonic Meter:
- Long autonomy: Up to 12 years of battery life.
- Alphanumeric R400 display: Provides a detailed record of water flow and velocity.
- Pressure and temperature sensors: Allow for a comprehensive analysis of water conditions.
- High adaptability: The Nautilus range covers models from 40N to 400N, adapting to different calibers based on installation requirements.
Centaurus Volumetric Meter
The Centaurus meter is specifically designed for potable water measurement, providing precise readings without the need for additional mechanical components that could wear out over time. This device integrates NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) technology, allowing collected data to be transmitted directly to the management system.
The implementation of these advanced devices not only delivers immediate benefits in terms of operational efficiency but also promotes more responsible and sustainable water consumption in the towns of Ourense.
Key Advantages of the Project:
- Early leak detection: Smart meters quickly identify leaks in the network, preventing unnecessary losses and ensuring more efficient resource management.
- Reduced operational costs: Automated data collection and real-time management minimize the need for manual interventions, significantly lowering operational expenses.
- Water savings: With detailed consumption visibility, users can adjust their habits for more efficient water use, contributing to overall conservation.
- Consumption transparency: Residents have access to detailed information about their water usage, fostering more responsible behavior and sustainable practices.
